Acne Star Treatments
Pixel: The Next Generation in Laser Resurfacing
Pixel is the latest technological advancement in skin resurfacing. Skin resurfacing has been available for more than 20 years, but has gone through a revolution in the last two years. Previously, resurfacing lasers were very aggressive, requiring weeks of recovery time. Despite this, these lasers brought about dramatic results, taking years off the face by reducting wrinkles, pigment, scars and rough texture, leading to smoother, tighter, younger skin. With the advent of the Pixel, these same results can be achieved with a minimal amount of recovery time, typically 3-5 days.

How does it work?
The process is called pixilation. Small pin-sized laser points are applied by the laser, rather than a "blanketing" of the skin. This preserves normal tissue between the points, accelerating healing time. The depth of penetration can be controlled depending upon what is being treated, and pulses can be "stacked" for deeper problem areas such as scars.
Is the laser treatment painful?
A typical treatment requires no local anesthetic creams or gels and can be done in 15 minutes. The treatment itself feels, both during and afterwards, like a bad sunburn. This will last for about 24 hours.
Are there any side effects?
Recovery consists of some redness and swelling followed by some peeling. The small pixilated dots can be seen on the face for several days as well. It covers easily with makeup.
